On a mission to master AWS Cloud Computing — one service at a time. From Linux to EC2, S3 to Lambda.
My cloud journey so far
I am Thaneshwar, an aspiring AWS Cloud Engineer from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. I have a deep passion for cloud technology and I am committed to building a strong foundation in AWS.
I started my journey by setting up Linux on WSL2 on my Windows laptop, installing the AWS CLI, and now actively learning core AWS services through hands-on practice.
My goal is to become a certified AWS Cloud Practitioner and eventually a Solutions Architect — building real-world cloud solutions that make a difference.
Core services I am actively learning and practicing
Virtual servers in the cloud. Learning to launch, configure and manage Linux instances using t2.micro free tier.
Currently LearningObject storage service. Hosting static websites, storing files and learning bucket policies and permissions.
Currently LearningIdentity and Access Management. Creating users, roles, and policies to securely manage AWS resources.
Currently LearningVirtual Private Cloud networking. Learning subnets, security groups, route tables and internet gateways.
Coming SoonServerless computing — run code without managing servers. Exploring event-driven architecture.
Coming SoonManaged relational database service. Planning to set up MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in the cloud.
Coming SoonMonitoring and observability. Learning to set up alarms, dashboards and log management.
Coming SoonCommand Line Interface for AWS. Already installed on WSL2 Ubuntu and actively using it for practice.
Currently LearningStep by step plan to master AWS Cloud
Installed WSL2 on Windows 11, set up Ubuntu, learned Linux commands — pwd, ls, cd, mkdir, touch, grep, curl and more.
Installed AWS CLI on Ubuntu, configuring credentials, learning EC2 and S3 through hands-on free tier practice.
Deep dive into VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM roles and policies, and AWS best security practices.
Learn RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda functions, API Gateway and build a full serverless application.
Achieve AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, then Solutions Architect Associate certification.
Technologies and tools in my learning stack
What I am working towards
Become confident with EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, RDS and CloudWatch through hands-on practice.
Earn the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certificate, then work towards Solutions Architect Associate.
Deploy real-world applications on AWS — static websites, APIs, databases and serverless functions.
Learn Terraform, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and automate cloud infrastructure deployments.
Secure a job as an AWS Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer and build a successful cloud career.
Document my cloud journey and help others learn AWS through blogs, tutorials and community contributions.
I am always open to connecting with fellow cloud learners, mentors and professionals.
